When I say all things exist in the human imagination, I mean infinite states; for everything possible for you to experience now, exists in you as a state of which you are its operant power. Only you can make a state become alive. You must enter a state and animate it in order for it to outpicture itself in your world.
All possible experiences exist as infinite "states" within the human imagination. To manifest a desire, one must consciously "enter" and "animate" the desired state of consciousness, making it subjectively real, which then causes it to objectify in the physical world.
Christ In Man
When you read it you think God rejected a man, but all of these are states of consciousness. God rejected the state, not its occupant, for God is playing all the parts, but we are in states... God is not condemning any man, for they are only states, and we must learn to distinguish between the occupant of the state and the state he occupies. God does not reject man, but the state, and puts man into another state... It does not matter what a man has ever done, he is only expressing a state. When in the state of murder he must murder, or in the state of the robber he has to steal. We condemn the occupant as though he did it, but he is in a state, which he entered wittingly or unwittingly.
All human experiences and actions are expressions of temporary states of consciousness. God does not condemn the individual (the occupant) but rather the undesirable state. Individuals move through various states, and understanding this distinction is crucial for transformation and non-judgment.
Consciousness
All states exist and are a fixed part of creation. Anyone can enter a state consciously or fall into a state inadvertently. You may move into different states throughout your lifetime or you may occupy a single state. Desire is what usually motivates us to move from one state to a higher level. Since a state is total and complete in itself, when we enter a state we are compelled to behave in a manner dictated by that state. For instance, in the state of poverty, we would find ourselves constantly in need of funds. We would have difficulty making ends meet and have no way to enjoy luxuries. Should we be given a large sum of money, if we remain in the state of poverty (filling our mind with thoughts of lack and limitation,) we would soon find ourselves without funds and again experiencing the same difficulties. The reverse would be true if we occupied a state of wealth. When we are in a state we see only the contents of that state and are compelled to act in accordance with all that the state entails. While in a particular state, you believe certain things are true and would find it difficult to understand another point of view. ... The Bible has personified every type of state and calls these states by names known to us as Moses, Noah, Job, Peter, Andrew, and Jesus. Throughout our journey, we enter these states and experience all that they offer.
States of consciousness are pre-existing, complete realities within finished creation. Entering a state, consciously or unconsciously, compels one to experience and act according to its inherent beliefs and conditions. Desire often motivates movement between these states, which are personified by biblical characters.
Every Natural Effect
So you want to be a man of wealth; all right assume that you’re a man of wealth. Not that it has any purpose in this world other than that you desired it. Because the man of wealth and the poor man are the same being. The poor state, the wealthy state are only states. The man who occupies the poor state is an individual that never ceases to be that individual. But if he falls into the state of poverty, well then you call him a poor man. But he doesn’t differ from the man who falls into the state of wealth. For the man in the state of wealth; he’s not any better; he has money, lots of money if he’s a fabulously wealthy person. But that doesn’t put him in a spiritual sense beyond the man that is poor. But the man that is poor doesn’t know he could get out of the state of poverty. All these are states, infinite states and man blindly falls into states. If he knows they’re only states and he dislikes the state he’s in, he’ll get out of that state by now planting one of these moments, these heavenly moments by assuming that I am now secure.
All conditions and experiences, such as wealth or poverty, are merely 'states' of consciousness that individuals occupy. The individual being remains the same, but their experience changes based on the state they inhabit. One can consciously move from an undesirable state to a desired one by assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled.
Gifts Bestowed By God
You see, life is nothing more than a hunger. This whole vast world is a hunger, and there are unnumbered states of consciousness from which you and I can view the world to satisfy that hunger.
The world is understood as a collection of 'hungers,' and there are infinite 'states of consciousness' available. To satisfy a hunger, one must enter and view the world from the state of consciousness where that hunger is already fulfilled.

There are infinite states of consciousness, and we are pilgrims passing through. When you pass through and you are in the state of poverty, and I say, “Who is poor?” you would answer, “I am.” Well, you have called the name of God! And then I meet some one who thinks he has a billion or two billion dollars, and I say, “Who is a fabulously wealthy person?” and he will say, “I am,” with great pride; but he doesn’t differ in name – the name of God – from the poor one who can’t pay the rent. It’s only a difference in state. ... All these are states. The man tonight who is sitting in the highest position in our country, or in Russia, or in England or in any part of the world, is the same Being who is now shining shoes for a living. They are only states of consciousness.
All human experiences, roles, and conditions (e.g., poverty, wealth, power, humility) are merely 'states of consciousness' that the one divine Being (I AM) passes through. The underlying identity remains God, only the assumed state differs.
Live The Answer Now
I also know, not only from personal experience but from eternal vision, that the spiritual states of the soul are eternal. That like a traveler, individual man passes through states but the states remain forever.
Spiritual states are eternal and permanent. Individuals move through these states like travelers, but the states themselves persist indefinitely.
The Art Of Dying
Blake looks on all states as permanent, as in his great poem regarding the Halls of Los: “I curse the earth for man and made it permanent.” So states remain and man passes through states, as though cities. If I do not pass through some state, but remain in it, I think [it] is the only reality. You cannot conceive of a state that is not, for the whole is finished; but man is awakening only by dying to state after state.
Neville teaches that all 'states' of consciousness are permanent, like cities, and man passes through them. These states are the only realities, and the entire spectrum of possibilities is already 'finished.' Man's awakening and growth occur by 'dying' to one state and moving into another, rather than remaining fixed in a single perception of reality.
The Pattern Of Scripture Is Real
We all fall into these states: the state of the thief, the state of this, the state of the other; and forgive them. They do not know what they are doing! The occupant of the state is not wrong; it is the state, but these states were created in the beginning, and they are eternal states. They do not change, any more than this city changes when I leave it. The city remains, but I go on; but the city remains for any one else to enter the city. So I enter a state. The state remains when I leave the state. So, if I am poor and I cease to be poor, poverty has not ceased to be a state. I may go on to a state of affluence; and affluence is a state, as poverty is a state. But the occupant entering the state lights it up, animates it and makes the state become real. So, if I move into the state of the thief, I’ve got to steal. If I move into the state of the affluent or being poor, or being anything, I must express that state.
States of consciousness are eternal, unchanging realities that exist independently of their occupants. Individuals 'fall into' or 'enter' these states, and by occupying them, they animate and express the characteristics of that state. The individual is not the state but the Being who moves through them.

The Perfect Image
There are infinite number of states. The state of health, the state of sickness, the state of wealth, the state of poverty, the state of being known, the state of being unknown - all are only states and everyone is always in a state. We all have one state in which we are very comfortable, so we return to it moment after moment. That state constitutes our dwelling place. If it is not a pleasant state, we can always get out of it. How this is done is the secret I will now share with you. All states are mental. You cannot remove yourself from your present state by pulling strings on the outside. You must mentally adjust your thoughts to proceed from the desired state, all within yourself. You fell into your present state either deliberately or unwittingly; and because you are its life, the state became alive and grew like a tree, bearing its fruit which you do not like. ... You can't conceive of a thing that is not part of a state, but the life of any state is in the individual who occupies it. Life cannot be given to a state from without, because God's name is "I am." It is not "You are" or "They are." God's eternal name is I Am! That is the life of the world. If you would make a state alive, you must be in it.
All of reality consists of infinite mental 'states' (e.g., health, wealth, poverty), and individuals constantly occupy one. These states are mental constructs, and one's current state is a 'dwelling place' that bears fruit. To change a state, one must mentally adjust their thoughts and 'occupy' the desired state from within. The 'I am' consciousness is the life of any state; therefore, to make a state alive, one must embody it by assuming 'I am' that state.
The Spiritual Cause
The man of wealth and the poor man are the same being. The individual who occupies the poor state is God's emanation who has fallen into the state of poverty. He does not differ, however, from the individual who occupies the state of wealth. The only difference is that the poor man does not know he can leave the state of poverty. This world is made up of infinite states which you may clothe yourself with. If you do not like the state you are in, you can get out of it by taking a heavenly moment and assuming you have moved. You can put yourself into any state, be it wealth or poverty.
All individuals are fundamentally the same divine being, but they occupy different "states of consciousness" such as wealth or poverty. These states are like garments one can choose to wear. The key to changing one's experience is to consciously move from an undesirable state to a desired one through assumption.
