- 4Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,λέγει ⸀δὲ ⸂Ἰούδας ὁ Ἰσκαριώτης εἷς τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ⸃ ὁ μέλλων αὐτὸν παραδιδόναι
- 5Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?Διὰ τί τοῦτο τὸ μύρον οὐκ ἐπράθη τριακοσίων δηναρίων καὶ ἐδόθη πτωχοῖς
- 6This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.εἶπεν δὲ τοῦτο οὐχ ὅτι περὶ τῶν πτωχῶν αὐτῷ ἀλλ’ ὅτι κλέπτης ἦν καὶ τὸ γλωσσόκομον ⸀ἔχων τὰ βαλλόμενα ἐβάσταζεν
- 7Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ἄφες αὐτήν ⸀ἵνα εἰς τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ ἐνταφιασμοῦ μου ⸀τηρήσῃ αὐτό
- 8For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.τοὺς πτωχοὺς γὰρ πάντοτε ἔχετε μεθ’ ἑαυτῶν ἐμὲ δὲ οὐ πάντοτε ἔχετε
- 9Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.Ἔγνω ⸀οὖν ὄχλος πολὺς ἐκ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ὅτι ἐκεῖ ἐστιν καὶ ἦλθον οὐ διὰ τὸν Ἰησοῦν μόνον ἀλλ’ ἵνα καὶ τὸν Λάζαρον ἴδωσιν ὃν ἤγειρεν ἐκ νεκρῶν
- 10But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;δὲ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς ἵνα καὶ τὸν Λάζαρον ἀποκτείνωσιν
- 11Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.ὅτι πολλοὶ δι’ αὐτὸν ὑπῆγον τῶν Ἰουδαίων καὶ ἐπίστευον εἰς τὸν Ἰησοῦν
- 12On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,Τῇ ἐπαύριον ⸀ὁ ὄχλος πολὺς ὁ ἐλθὼν εἰς τὴν ἑορτήν ἀκούσαντες ὅτι ἔρχεται ⸁ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα
- 13Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.ἔλαβον τὰ τῶν φοινίκων καὶ ἐξῆλθον εἰς ὑπάντησιν αὐτῷ καὶ ⸀ἐκραύγαζον Ὡσαννά εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου ⸂καὶ ὁ⸃ βασιλεὺς τοῦ Ἰσραήλ
- 14And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,εὑρὼν δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὀνάριον ἐκάθισεν ἐπ’ αὐτό καθώς ἐστιν γεγραμμένον
- 15Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.Μὴ θυγάτηρ Σιών ἰδοὺ ὁ βασιλεύς σου ἔρχεται καθήμενος ἐπὶ πῶλον ὄνου
- 16These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.⸀ταῦτα οὐκ ἔγνωσαν ⸂αὐτοῦ οἱ μαθηταὶ⸃ τὸ πρῶτον ἀλλ’ ὅτε ἐδοξάσθη Ἰησοῦς τότε ὅτι ταῦτα ἦν ἐπ’ αὐτῷ γεγραμμένα καὶ ταῦτα ἐποίησαν αὐτῷ
- 17The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.ἐμαρτύρει οὖν ὁ ὄχλος ὁ ὢν μετ’ αὐτοῦ ὅτε τὸν Λάζαρον ἐφώνησεν ἐκ τοῦ μνημείου καὶ ἤγειρεν αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν
- 18For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.διὰ τοῦτο ⸀καὶ ὑπήντησεν αὐτῷ ὁ ὄχλος ὅτι ⸀ἤκουσαν τοῦτο αὐτὸν πεποιηκέναι τὸ σημεῖον
- 19The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.οἱ οὖν Φαρισαῖοι εἶπαν πρὸς ἑαυτούς Θεωρεῖτε ὅτι οὐκ ὠφελεῖτε οὐδέν ἴδε ὁ ⸀κόσμος ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ ἀπῆλθεν
- 20And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:Ἦσαν δὲ ⸂Ἕλληνές ἐκ τῶν ἀναβαινόντων ἵνα προσκυνήσωσιν ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ
- 21The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.οὗτοι οὖν προσῆλθον Φιλίππῳ τῷ ἀπὸ Βηθσαϊδὰ τῆς Γαλιλαίας καὶ ἠρώτων αὐτὸν λέγοντες Κύριε θέλομεν τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἰδεῖν
- 22Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.ἔρχεται ⸀ὁ Φίλιππος καὶ λέγει τῷ Ἀνδρέᾳ ⸀ἔρχεται Ἀνδρέας καὶ Φίλιππος ⸀καὶ λέγουσιν τῷ Ἰησοῦ
- 23And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ⸀ἀποκρίνεται αὐτοῖς λέγων Ἐλήλυθεν ἡ ὥρα ἵνα δοξασθῇ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου
- 24Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ἐὰν μὴ ὁ κόκκος τοῦ σίτου πεσὼν εἰς τὴν γῆν αὐτὸς μόνος μένει ἐὰν δὲ πολὺν καρπὸν φέρει
- 25He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.ὁ φιλῶν τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ⸀ἀπολλύει αὐτήν καὶ ὁ μισῶν τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ τούτῳ εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον φυλάξει αὐτήν
- 26If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.ἐὰν ἐμοί διακονῇ⸃ ἐμοὶ ἀκολουθείτω καὶ ὅπου εἰμὶ ἐγὼ ἐκεῖ καὶ ὁ διάκονος ὁ ἐμὸς ἔσται ⸀ἐάν ἐμοὶ διακονῇ τιμήσει αὐτὸν ὁ πατήρ
- 27Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.Νῦν ἡ ψυχή μου τετάρακται καὶ τί εἴπω πάτερ με ἐκ τῆς ὥρας ταύτης ἀλλὰ διὰ τοῦτο ἦλθον εἰς τὴν ὥραν ταύτην
- 28Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.πάτερ δόξασόν σου τὸ ὄνομα ἦλθεν οὖν φωνὴ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ Καὶ ἐδόξασα καὶ πάλιν δοξάσω
- 29The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.ὁ οὖν ὄχλος ὁ ἑστὼς καὶ ἀκούσας ἔλεγεν βροντὴν γεγονέναι ἄλλοι ἔλεγον Ἄγγελος αὐτῷ λελάληκεν
- 30Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.ἀπεκρίθη ⸂Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν⸃ Οὐ δι’ ἐμὲ ⸂ἡ φωνὴ αὕτη⸃ γέγονεν ἀλλὰ δι’ ὑμᾶς
- 31Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.νῦν κρίσις ἐστὶν τοῦ κόσμου τούτου νῦν ὁ ἄρχων τοῦ κόσμου τούτου ἐκβληθήσεται ἔξω
- 32And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.κἀγὼ ⸀ἐὰν ὑψωθῶ ἐκ τῆς γῆς πάντας πρὸς ἐμαυτόν
- 33This he said, signifying what death he should die.τοῦτο δὲ ἔλεγεν σημαίνων ποίῳ θανάτῳ ἤμελλεν
- 34The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?ἀπεκρίθη ⸀οὖν αὐτῷ ὁ ὄχλος Ἡμεῖς ἠκούσαμεν ἐκ τοῦ νόμου ὅτι ὁ χριστὸς μένει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ πῶς ⸂λέγεις σὺ⸃ ⸀ὅτι δεῖ ὑψωθῆναι τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τίς ἐστιν οὗτος ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου
- 35Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς Ἔτι μικρὸν χρόνον τὸ φῶς ⸂ἐν ὑμῖν⸃ ἐστιν περιπατεῖτε ⸀ὡς τὸ φῶς ἔχετε ἵνα μὴ σκοτία ὑμᾶς καταλάβῃ καὶ ὁ περιπατῶν ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ οὐκ ποῦ ὑπάγει
