He did not try to fool himself but built a crowd in his own consciousness, and crowds come. Stand before a large audience. Address this audience in your imagination. Feel you are on that stage and your feeling will provide the means.
This technique demonstrates that by building the desired reality in one's consciousness and feeling its truth, the external world will conform to that inner state. The feeling of being on stage before a large audience provides the means for its manifestation.
