Step by step
- Identify a desired place or condition that seems distant or far off.
- From your current physical location, mentally 'draw' that desire closer and closer.
- Step into and 'occupy' the desired state in your imagination.
- Give the imagined scene full sensory vividness: see, hear, feel, smell, and taste it as if you are physically there.
- Experience the desired state with such reality that it feels like your present environment.

The Potters House
To manifest a distant desire (place or condition), mentally 'draw it near' and 'occupy' it. This means standing in your current physical location and, in your imagination, bringing the desired state so close that you are fully immersed in it, giving it sensory vividness and cubic reality.
Think of something that is distant – anything, I don’t care what it is. It could be a place, it could be a condition that you think is going to take time to do it. Now, draw near. He said, “Come near, my son.” Well, if you think of something, that is your offspring – your idea. You think of a trip, say, to New York City. It is three thousand miles away. How would I draw it and make it near? Well, I stand right here where I am, and then I “draw it near.” I draw it nearer and nearer, and then I occupy it. Man’s great weakness is that he is always building and building, but he doesn’t occupy; perpetual construction but no occupancy. He doesn’t go in and occupy it and give it what I would call sensory vividness and a sort of cubic reality.
This technique is based on the principle that distance is an illusion in imagination. By mentally 'drawing near' and 'occupying' the desired state, one collapses the perceived distance and makes the future present, engaging the sense of touch and feeling to make it real.
