- 4I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,Εὐχαριστῶ τῷ θεῷ μου πάντοτε μνείαν σου ποιούμενος ἐπὶ τῶν προσευχῶν μου
- 5Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;ἀκούων σου τὴν ἀγάπην καὶ τὴν πίστιν ἣν ἔχεις ⸀πρὸς τὸν κύριον Ἰησοῦν καὶ εἰς πάντας τοὺς ἁγίους
- 6That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.ὅπως ἡ κοινωνία τῆς πίστεώς σου ἐνεργὴς γένηται ἐν ἐπιγνώσει παντὸς ἀγαθοῦ ⸀τοῦ ἐν ἡμῖν εἰς ⸀Χριστόν
- 7For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.⸀χαρὰν γὰρ ⸂πολλὴν ἔσχον⸃ καὶ παράκλησιν ἐπὶ τῇ ἀγάπῃ σου ὅτι τὰ σπλάγχνα τῶν ἁγίων ἀναπέπαυται διὰ σοῦ ἀδελφέ
- 8Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,Διό πολλὴν ἐν Χριστῷ ἔχων ἐπιτάσσειν σοι τὸ ἀνῆκον
- 9Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.διὰ τὴν ἀγάπην μᾶλλον παρακαλῶ τοιοῦτος ὢν ὡς Παῦλος πρεσβύτης νυνὶ δὲ καὶ δέσμιος ⸂Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ⸃—
- 10I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:παρακαλῶ σε περὶ τοῦ ἐμοῦ τέκνου ὃν ἐγέννησα ἐν τοῖς Ὀνήσιμον
- 11Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:τόν ποτέ σοι ἄχρηστον νυνὶ ⸀δὲ σοὶ καὶ ἐμοὶ εὔχρηστον
- 12Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:ὃν ἀνέπεμψά ⸂σοι αὐτόν τοῦτ’ ἔστιν τὰ ἐμὰ σπλάγχνα⸃
- 13Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:ὃν ἐγὼ ἐβουλόμην πρὸς ἐμαυτὸν κατέχειν ἵνα ὑπὲρ σοῦ ⸂μοι διακονῇ⸃ ἐν τοῖς τοῦ εὐαγγελίου
- 14But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.χωρὶς δὲ τῆς σῆς γνώμης οὐδὲν ἠθέλησα ποιῆσαι ἵνα μὴ ὡς κατὰ ἀνάγκην τὸ ἀγαθόν σου ᾖ ἀλλὰ κατὰ
- 15For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;τάχα γὰρ διὰ τοῦτο ἐχωρίσθη πρὸς ὥραν ἵνα αἰώνιον αὐτὸν ἀπέχῃς
- 16Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?οὐκέτι ὡς δοῦλον ἀλλὰ ὑπὲρ δοῦλον ἀδελφὸν ἀγαπητόν μάλιστα ἐμοί πόσῳ δὲ μᾶλλον σοὶ καὶ ἐν σαρκὶ καὶ ἐν κυρίῳ
- 17If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.Εἰ οὖν με ἔχεις κοινωνόν αὐτὸν ὡς ἐμέ
- 18If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;εἰ δέ ἠδίκησέν σε ἢ ὀφείλει τοῦτο ἐμοὶ ⸀ἐλλόγα
- 19I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.ἐγὼ Παῦλος ἔγραψα τῇ ἐμῇ χειρί ἐγὼ ἀποτίσω ἵνα μὴ λέγω σοι ὅτι καὶ σεαυτόν μοι προσοφείλεις
- 20Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.ναί ἀδελφέ ἐγώ σου ὀναίμην ἐν κυρίῳ ἀνάπαυσόν μου τὰ σπλάγχνα ἐν ⸀Χριστῷ
- 21Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.πεποιθὼς τῇ ὑπακοῇ σου ἔγραψά σοι εἰδὼς ὅτι καὶ ὑπὲρ ⸀ἃ λέγω ποιήσεις
- 22But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.ἅμα δὲ καὶ ἑτοίμαζέ μοι ξενίαν ἐλπίζω γὰρ ὅτι διὰ τῶν προσευχῶν ὑμῶν χαρισθήσομαι ὑμῖν
