- 1Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,Τότε προσέρχονται τῷ ⸀Ἰησοῦ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων ⸂Φαρισαῖοι καὶ γραμματεῖς⸃ λέγοντες
- 2Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.Διὰ τί οἱ μαθηταί σου παραβαίνουσιν τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων οὐ γὰρ νίπτονται τὰς χεῖρας ⸀αὐτῶν ὅταν ἄρτον ἐσθίωσιν
- 3But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Διὰ τί καὶ ὑμεῖς παραβαίνετε τὴν ἐντολὴν τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν
- 4For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.ὁ γὰρ θεὸς ⸀εἶπεν Τίμα τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα καί Ὁ κακολογῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα θανάτῳ τελευτάτω
- 5But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;ὑμεῖς δὲ λέγετε Ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ πατρὶ ἢ τῇ μητρί Δῶρον ὃ ἐὰν ἐξ ἐμοῦ ὠφεληθῇς
- 6And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.⸀οὐ μὴ ⸀τιμήσει τὸν πατέρα ⸀αὐτοῦ καὶ ἠκυρώσατε ⸂τὸν λόγον⸃ τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν
- 7Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,ὑποκριταί καλῶς ἐπροφήτευσεν περὶ ὑμῶν λέγων
- 8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.⸂Ὁ λαὸς οὗτος⸃ τοῖς χείλεσίν με τιμᾷ ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτῶν ἀπέχει ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ
- 9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με διδάσκοντες διδασκαλίας ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων
- 10And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:Καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὄχλον εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ἀκούετε καὶ συνίετε
- 11Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.οὐ τὸ εἰσερχόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἀλλὰ τὸ ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ τοῦ στόματος τοῦτο κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον
- 12Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?Τότε προσελθόντες οἱ ⸀μαθηταὶ ⸀λέγουσιν αὐτῷ ὅτι οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον ἐσκανδαλίσθησαν
- 13But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν Πᾶσα φυτεία ἣν οὐκ ἐφύτευσεν ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ οὐράνιος ἐκριζωθήσεται
- 14Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.ἄφετε αὐτούς ⸂τυφλοί εἰσιν ὁδηγοὶ τυφλῶν⸃ τυφλὸς δὲ τυφλὸν ἐὰν ὁδηγῇ εἰς βόθυνον πεσοῦνται
- 15Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῷ Φράσον ἡμῖν τὴν παραβολὴν ⸀ταύτην
- 16And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?ὁ ⸀δὲ εἶπεν Ἀκμὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀσύνετοί ἐστε
- 17Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?⸀οὐ ὅτι πᾶν τὸ εἰσπορευόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν χωρεῖ καὶ εἰς ἀφεδρῶνα ἐκβάλλεται
- 18But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.τὰ δὲ ἐκπορευόμενα ἐκ τοῦ στόματος ἐκ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχεται κἀκεῖνα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον
- 19For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:ἐκ γὰρ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχονται διαλογισμοὶ πονηροί φόνοι μοιχεῖαι πορνεῖαι κλοπαί ψευδομαρτυρίαι βλασφημίαι
- 20These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.ταῦτά ἐστιν τὰ κοινοῦντα τὸν ἄνθρωπον τὸ δὲ ἀνίπτοις χερσὶν φαγεῖν οὐ κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον
- 21Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.Καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐκεῖθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν εἰς τὰ μέρη Τύρου καὶ Σιδῶνος
- 22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.καὶ ἰδοὺ γυνὴ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων ἐκείνων ἐξελθοῦσα ⸀ἔκραζεν λέγουσα με κύριε ⸀υἱὸς ἡ θυγάτηρ μου κακῶς δαιμονίζεται
- 23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῇ λόγον καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ⸀ἠρώτουν αὐτὸν λέγοντες Ἀπόλυσον αὐτήν ὅτι κράζει ὄπισθεν ἡμῶν
- 24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν Οὐκ ἀπεστάλην εἰ μὴ εἰς τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἀπολωλότα οἴκου Ἰσραήλ
- 25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.ἡ δὲ ἐλθοῦσα ⸀προσεκύνει αὐτῷ λέγουσα Κύριε βοήθει μοι
- 26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν Οὐκ ἔστιν καλὸν λαβεῖν τὸν ἄρτον τῶν τέκνων καὶ βαλεῖν τοῖς κυναρίοις
- 27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.ἡ δὲ εἶπεν Ναί κύριε καὶ γὰρ τὰ κυνάρια ἐσθίει ἀπὸ τῶν τῶν πιπτόντων ἀπὸ τῆς τραπέζης τῶν κυρίων αὐτῶν
- 28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.τότε ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῇ Ὦ γύναι μεγάλη σου ἡ πίστις γενηθήτω σοι ὡς θέλεις καὶ ἰάθη ἡ θυγάτηρ αὐτῆς ἀπὸ τῆς ὥρας ἐκείνης

- 32Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν Σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον ὅτι ἤδη ἡμέραι τρεῖς προσμένουσίν μοι καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσιν τί φάγωσιν καὶ ἀπολῦσαι αὐτοὺς νήστεις οὐ θέλω μήποτε ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ
- 33And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ ⸀μαθηταί Πόθεν ἡμῖν ἐν ἐρημίᾳ ἄρτοι τοσοῦτοι ὥστε χορτάσαι ὄχλον τοσοῦτον
- 34And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς Πόσους ἄρτους ἔχετε οἱ δὲ εἶπαν Ἑπτά καὶ ὀλίγα ἰχθύδια
