- 1In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,Ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις ⸂πάλιν πολλοῦ⸃ ὄχλου ὄντος καὶ μὴ ἐχόντων τί φάγωσιν ⸀προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς ⸀μαθητὰς λέγει αὐτοῖς
- 2I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:Σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον ὅτι ἤδη ἡμέραι τρεῖς προσμένουσίν μοι καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσιν τί φάγωσιν
- 3And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.καὶ ἐὰν ἀπολύσω αὐτοὺς νήστεις εἰς οἶκον αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ⸂καί αὐτῶν ⸀ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ⸀ἥκασιν
- 4And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ⸀ὅτι Πόθεν τούτους δυνήσεταί ὧδε χορτάσαι ἄρτων ἐπ’ ἐρημίας
- 5And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.καὶ ⸀ἠρώτα αὐτούς Πόσους ἔχετε ἄρτους οἱ δὲ εἶπαν Ἑπτά
- 6And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.καὶ ⸀παραγγέλλει τῷ ὄχλῳ ἀναπεσεῖν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ λαβὼν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ ἐδίδου τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ἵνα ⸀παρατιθῶσιν καὶ παρέθηκαν τῷ ὄχλῳ
- 7And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.καὶ εἶχον ἰχθύδια ὀλίγα καὶ εὐλογήσας ⸀αὐτὰ εἶπεν ⸂καὶ ταῦτα παρατιθέναι⸃
- 8And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.⸂καὶ ἔφαγον⸃ καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν καὶ ἦραν περισσεύματα κλασμάτων ἑπτὰ σπυρίδας
- 9And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.ἦσαν ⸀δὲ ὡς τετρακισχίλιοι καὶ ἀπέλυσεν αὐτούς
- 10And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἐμβὰς εἰς τὸ πλοῖον μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ἦλθεν εἰς τὰ μέρη Δαλμανουθά
- 11And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.Καὶ ἐξῆλθον οἱ Φαρισαῖοι καὶ ἤρξαντο συζητεῖν αὐτῷ ζητοῦντες παρ’ αὐτοῦ σημεῖον ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ πειράζοντες αὐτόν
- 12And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.καὶ ἀναστενάξας τῷ πνεύματι αὐτοῦ λέγει Τί ἡ γενεὰ αὕτη ⸂ζητεῖ σημεῖον⸃ ἀμὴν λέγω ⸀ὑμῖν εἰ δοθήσεται τῇ γενεᾷ ταύτῃ σημεῖον
- 13Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.καὶ ἀφεὶς αὐτοὺς ⸂πάλιν ἐμβὰς⸃ ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὸ πέραν
- 14And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.Καὶ ἐπελάθοντο λαβεῖν ἄρτους καὶ εἰ μὴ ἕνα ἄρτον οὐκ εἶχον μεθ’ ἑαυτῶν ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ
- 15And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.καὶ διεστέλλετο αὐτοῖς λέγων Ὁρᾶτε βλέπετε ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης τῶν Φαρισαίων καὶ τῆς ζύμης
- 16And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?καὶ διελογίζοντο πρὸς ⸀ἀλλήλους ὅτι ἄρτους οὐκ ⸀ἔχουσιν
- 17Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?καὶ ⸀γνοὺς λέγει αὐτοῖς Τί διαλογίζεσθε ὅτι ἄρτους οὐκ ἔχετε οὔπω οὐδὲ συνίετε ⸀πεπωρωμένην ἔχετε τὴν καρδίαν ὑμῶν
- 18When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.ὀφθαλμοὺς ἔχοντες οὐ βλέπετε καὶ ὦτα ἔχοντες οὐκ ἀκούετε καὶ οὐ μνημονεύετε
- 19And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.ὅτε τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους ἔκλασα εἰς τοὺς πεντακισχιλίους πόσους κοφίνους ⸂κλασμάτων πλήρεις⸃ ἤρατε λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Δώδεκα
- 20And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?ὅτε ⸀καὶ τοὺς ἑπτὰ εἰς τοὺς τετρακισχιλίους πόσων σπυρίδων πληρώματα κλασμάτων ἤρατε ⸂καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ⸃ Ἑπτά
- 21And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς ⸀Οὔπω συνίετε
- 22And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.Καὶ ⸀ἔρχονται εἰς καὶ φέρουσιν αὐτῷ τυφλὸν καὶ παρακαλοῦσιν αὐτὸν ἵνα αὐτοῦ ἅψηται
- 23And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.καὶ ἐπιλαβόμενος τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ τυφλοῦ ⸀ἐξήνεγκεν αὐτὸν ἔξω τῆς κώμης καὶ πτύσας εἰς τὰ ὄμματα αὐτοῦ ἐπιθεὶς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῷ ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν Εἴ ⸀βλέπεις
- 24After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.καὶ ἀναβλέψας ἔλεγεν Βλέπω τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ὅτι ὡς δένδρα ὁρῶ περιπατοῦντας
- 25And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.εἶτα πάλιν ⸀ἐπέθηκεν τὰς χεῖρας ἐπὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ⸂διέβλεψεν καὶ ἀπεκατέστη καὶ ἐνέβλεπεν⸃ τηλαυγῶς ⸀ἅπαντα
- 26And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτὸν ⸀εἰς οἶκον αὐτοῦ λέγων Μηδὲ εἰς τὴν κώμην ⸀εἰσέλθῃς

- 30And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.καὶ ἐπετίμησεν αὐτοῖς ἵνα μηδενὶ λέγωσιν περὶ αὐτοῦ
- 31And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.Καὶ ἤρξατο διδάσκειν αὐτοὺς ὅτι δεῖ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου πολλὰ παθεῖν καὶ ἀποδοκιμασθῆναι ⸀ὑπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ τῶν ἀρχιερέων καὶ τῶν γραμματέων καὶ ἀποκτανθῆναι καὶ μετὰ τρεῖς ἡμέρας ἀναστῆναι
- 32But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.καὶ τὸν λόγον ἐλάλει καὶ ⸂ὁ Πέτρος αὐτὸν⸃ ἤρξατο ἐπιτιμᾶν αὐτῷ
- 33And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.ὁ δὲ ἐπιστραφεὶς καὶ ἰδὼν τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ ἐπετίμησεν ⸀Πέτρῳ ⸂καὶ λέγει⸃ Ὕπαγε ὀπίσω μου Σατανᾶ ὅτι οὐ φρονεῖς τὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἀλλὰ τὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων
- 34For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.Καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὄχλον σὺν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ⸂Εἴ θέλει ὀπίσω μου ⸀ἐλθεῖν ἀπαρνησάσθω ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἀράτω τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκολουθείτω μοι
- 35For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?ὃς γὰρ ⸀ἐὰν θέλῃ τὴν ⸂ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ⸃ ἀπολέσει αὐτήν ὃς δ’ ἂν ⸀ἀπολέσει τὴν ⸄ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ⸅ ἐμοῦ καὶ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου αὐτήν
- 36Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?τί γὰρ ⸀ὠφελεῖ ⸀ἄνθρωπον ⸂κερδῆσαι τὸν κόσμον ὅλον καὶ ζημιωθῆναι⸃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ
