- 1And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὸ πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἰς τὴν χώραν τῶν
- 2And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,καὶ ⸂ἐξελθόντος αὐτοῦ⸃ ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου ⸂εὐθὺς ὑπήντησεν⸃ αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν μνημείων ἄνθρωπος ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ
- 3Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:ὃς τὴν κατοίκησιν εἶχεν ἐν τοῖς μνήμασιν καὶ ⸂οὐδὲ ἁλύσει οὐκέτι⸃ οὐδεὶς ἐδύνατο αὐτὸν δῆσαι
- 4Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν πολλάκις πέδαις καὶ ἁλύσεσι δεδέσθαι καὶ διεσπάσθαι ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ τὰς ἁλύσεις καὶ τὰς πέδας συντετρῖφθαι καὶ οὐδεὶς ⸂ἴσχυεν αὐτὸν⸃ δαμάσαι
- 5And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.καὶ διὰ παντὸς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ἐν τοῖς ⸂μνήμασιν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν⸃ ἦν κράζων καὶ κατακόπτων ἑαυτὸν λίθοις
- 6But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,⸂καὶ ἰδὼν⸃ τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔδραμεν καὶ προσεκύνησεν ⸀αὐτόν
- 7And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.καὶ κράξας φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ⸀λέγει Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ὑψίστου ὁρκίζω σε τὸν θεόν μή με βασανίσῃς
- 8For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.ἔλεγεν γὰρ αὐτῷ Ἔξελθε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον ἐκ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου
- 9And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.καὶ ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν Τί ⸂ὄνομά σοι⸃ καὶ ⸂λέγει αὐτῷ⸃ ὄνομά μοι ὅτι πολλοί ἐσμεν
- 10And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.καὶ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν πολλὰ ἵνα μὴ ⸀αὐτὰ ἀποστείλῃ ἔξω τῆς χώρας
- 11Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ πρὸς τῷ ὄρει ἀγέλη χοίρων μεγάλη βοσκομένη
- 12And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.καὶ παρεκάλεσαν ⸀αὐτὸν λέγοντες Πέμψον ἡμᾶς εἰς τοὺς χοίρους ἵνα εἰς αὐτοὺς εἰσέλθωμεν
- 13And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.καὶ ἐπέτρεψεν ⸀αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐξελθόντα τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα εἰσῆλθον εἰς τοὺς χοίρους καὶ ὥρμησεν ἡ ἀγέλη κατὰ τοῦ κρημνοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν ⸀ὡς δισχίλιοι καὶ ἐπνίγοντο ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ
- 14And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.⸂Καὶ οἱ⸃ βόσκοντες ⸀αὐτοὺς ἔφυγον καὶ ⸀ἀπήγγειλαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀγρούς καὶ ⸀ἦλθον ἰδεῖν τί ἐστιν τὸ γεγονός
- 15And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.καὶ ἔρχονται πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ θεωροῦσιν τὸν δαιμονιζόμενον ⸀καθήμενον ἱματισμένον καὶ σωφρονοῦντα τὸν ἐσχηκότα τὸν καὶ
- 16And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.⸂καὶ διηγήσαντο⸃ αὐτοῖς οἱ ἰδόντες πῶς ἐγένετο τῷ δαιμονιζομένῳ καὶ περὶ τῶν χοίρων
- 17And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.καὶ ἤρξαντο παρακαλεῖν αὐτὸν ἀπελθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτῶν
- 18And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.καὶ ⸀ἐμβαίνοντος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πλοῖον παρεκάλει αὐτὸν ὁ δαιμονισθεὶς ἵνα ⸂μετ’ αὐτοῦ ᾖ⸃
- 19Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.⸀καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὐτόν ἀλλὰ λέγει αὐτῷ Ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου πρὸς τοὺς σούς καὶ ⸀ἀπάγγειλον αὐτοῖς ὅσα ⸂ὁ κύριός σοι⸃ πεποίηκεν καὶ σε
- 20And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἤρξατο κηρύσσειν ἐν τῇ Δεκαπόλει ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ πάντες ἐθαύμαζον
- 21And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.Καὶ διαπεράσαντος τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ πάλιν εἰς τὸ πέραν συνήχθη ὄχλος πολὺς ἐπ’ αὐτόν καὶ ἦν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν
- 22And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,⸀καὶ ἔρχεται εἷς τῶν ἀρχισυναγώγων ὀνόματι καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὸν πίπτει πρὸς τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ
- 23And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.καὶ ⸀παρακαλεῖ αὐτὸν πολλὰ λέγων ὅτι Τὸ θυγάτριόν μου ἐσχάτως ἔχει ἵνα ἐλθὼν ἐπιθῇς ⸂τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῇ⸃ ⸀ἵνα καὶ ⸀ζήσῃ
- 24And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.καὶ ἀπῆλθεν μετ’ αὐτοῦ Καὶ ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς καὶ συνέθλιβον αὐτόν
- 25And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,καὶ ⸀γυνὴ οὖσα ἐν ῥύσει αἵματος ⸂δώδεκα ἔτη⸃
- 26And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,καὶ πολλὰ παθοῦσα ὑπὸ πολλῶν ἰατρῶν καὶ δαπανήσασα τὰ παρ’ αὐτῆς πάντα καὶ μηδὲν ὠφεληθεῖσα ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον εἰς τὸ χεῖρον ἐλθοῦσα
- 27When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.⸀ἀκούσασα περὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἐλθοῦσα ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ὄπισθεν ἥψατο τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ
- 28For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὅτι ⸂Ἐὰν ἅψωμαι κἂν τῶν ἱματίων αὐτοῦ⸃
- 29And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἐξηράνθη ἡ πηγὴ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτῆς καὶ ἔγνω τῷ σώματι ὅτι ἴαται ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγος
- 30And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐπιγνοὺς ἐν ἑαυτῷ τὴν ἐξ αὐτοῦ δύναμιν ἐξελθοῦσαν ἐπιστραφεὶς ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ἔλεγεν Τίς μου ἥψατο τῶν ἱματίων
- 31And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ Βλέπεις τὸν ὄχλον συνθλίβοντά σε καὶ λέγεις Τίς μου ἥψατο
- 32And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.καὶ ἰδεῖν τὴν τοῦτο ποιήσασαν
- 33But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.ἡ δὲ γυνὴ καὶ τρέμουσα ὃ γέγονεν ⸀αὐτῇ ἦλθεν καὶ προσέπεσεν αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀλήθειαν
- 34And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ ⸀Θυγάτηρ ἡ πίστις σου σε ὕπαγε εἰς εἰρήνην καὶ ἴσθι ὑγιὴς ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγός σου
- 35While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?Ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἔρχονται ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου λέγοντες ὅτι Ἡ θυγάτηρ σου τί ἔτι σκύλλεις τὸν διδάσκαλον
- 36As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ⸀παρακούσας τὸν λόγον λαλούμενον λέγει τῷ ἀρχισυναγώγῳ Μὴ μόνον πίστευε
- 37And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν οὐδένα ⸂μετ’ αὐτοῦ⸃ συνακολουθῆσαι εἰ μὴ ⸀τὸν Πέτρον καὶ Ἰάκωβον καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν Ἰακώβου
- 38And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.καὶ ⸀ἔρχονται εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου καὶ θεωρεῖ θόρυβον ⸀καὶ κλαίοντας καὶ ἀλαλάζοντας πολλά
- 39And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.καὶ εἰσελθὼν λέγει αὐτοῖς Τί θορυβεῖσθε καὶ κλαίετε τὸ παιδίον οὐκ ἀλλὰ καθεύδει
- 40And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.καὶ κατεγέλων αὐτοῦ ⸀αὐτὸς δὲ ἐκβαλὼν πάντας παραλαμβάνει τὸν πατέρα τοῦ παιδίου καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ τοὺς μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰσπορεύεται ὅπου ἦν τὸ ⸀παιδίον
