- 9But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.ὡς δέ ἐσκληρύνοντο καὶ ἠπείθουν κακολογοῦντες τὴν ὁδὸν ἐνώπιον τοῦ πλήθους ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ἀφώρισεν τοὺς μαθητάς καθ’ ἡμέραν διαλεγόμενος ἐν τῇ σχολῇ ⸀Τυράννου
- 10And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.τοῦτο δὲ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ ἔτη δύο ὥστε πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν Ἀσίαν ἀκοῦσαι τὸν λόγον τοῦ ⸀κυρίου Ἰουδαίους τε καὶ Ἕλληνας
- 11And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:Δυνάμεις τε οὐ τὰς τυχούσας ⸂ὁ θεὸς ἐποίει⸃ διὰ τῶν χειρῶν Παύλου
- 12So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.ὥστε καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀσθενοῦντας ⸀ἀποφέρεσθαι ἀπὸ τοῦ χρωτὸς αὐτοῦ σουδάρια ἢ σιμικίνθια καὶ ἀπαλλάσσεσθαι ἀπ’ αὐτῶν τὰς νόσους τά τε πνεύματα τὰ πονηρὰ ⸀ἐκπορεύεσθαι
- 13Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.ἐπεχείρησαν δέ ⸀καὶ τῶν περιερχομένων Ἰουδαίων ἐξορκιστῶν ὀνομάζειν ἐπὶ τοὺς ἔχοντας τὰ πνεύματα τὰ πονηρὰ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ λέγοντες ⸀Ὁρκίζω ὑμᾶς τὸν Ἰησοῦν ⸀ὃν Παῦλος κηρύσσει
- 14And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.ἦσαν δέ Σκευᾶ Ἰουδαίου ἀρχιερέως ἑπτὰ ⸀υἱοὶ τοῦτο ποιοῦντες
- 15And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?ἀποκριθὲν δὲ τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ πονηρὸν εἶπεν ⸀αὐτοῖς ⸀Τὸν Ἰησοῦν γινώσκω καὶ τὸν Παῦλον ἐπίσταμαι ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνες ἐστέ
- 16And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.καὶ ⸀ἐφαλόμενος ⸂ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς⸃ ἐν ᾧ ἦν τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ πονηρὸν ⸂κατακυριεύσας ἴσχυσεν κατ’ αὐτῶν ὥστε γυμνοὺς καὶ τετραυματισμένους ἐκφυγεῖν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου ἐκείνου
- 17And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.τοῦτο δὲ ἐγένετο γνωστὸν πᾶσιν Ἰουδαίοις τε καὶ Ἕλλησιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν τὴν Ἔφεσον καὶ ⸀ἐπέπεσεν φόβος ἐπὶ πάντας αὐτούς καὶ ἐμεγαλύνετο τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ
- 18And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.πολλοί τε τῶν πεπιστευκότων ἤρχοντο ἐξομολογούμενοι καὶ ἀναγγέλλοντες τὰς πράξεις αὐτῶν
- 19Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.ἱκανοὶ δὲ τῶν τὰ περίεργα πραξάντων συνενέγκαντες τὰς βίβλους κατέκαιον ἐνώπιον πάντων καὶ συνεψήφισαν τὰς τιμὰς αὐτῶν καὶ εὗρον ἀργυρίου μυριάδας πέντε
- 20So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.κατὰ κράτος ⸂τοῦ κυρίου ὁ λόγος⸃ ηὔξανεν καὶ ἴσχυεν
- 21After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.Ὡς δὲ ἐπληρώθη ταῦτα ἔθετο ὁ Παῦλος ἐν τῷ πνεύματι διελθὼν τὴν Μακεδονίαν καὶ Ἀχαΐαν πορεύεσθαι εἰς ⸀Ἱεροσόλυμα εἰπὼν ὅτι Μετὰ τὸ γενέσθαι με ἐκεῖ δεῖ με καὶ Ῥώμην ἰδεῖν
- 22So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.ἀποστείλας δὲ εἰς τὴν Μακεδονίαν δύο τῶν διακονούντων αὐτῷ Τιμόθεον καὶ Ἔραστον αὐτὸς ἐπέσχεν χρόνον εἰς τὴν Ἀσίαν
- 23And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.Ἐγένετο δὲ κατὰ τὸν καιρὸν ἐκεῖνον τάραχος οὐκ ὀλίγος περὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ
- 24For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;Δημήτριος γάρ ὀνόματι ἀργυροκόπος ποιῶν ναοὺς Ἀρτέμιδος παρείχετο τοῖς τεχνίταις ⸂οὐκ ὀλίγην ἐργασίαν⸃
- 25Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.οὓς συναθροίσας καὶ τοὺς περὶ τὰ τοιαῦτα ἐργάτας εἶπεν Ἄνδρες ἐπίστασθε ὅτι ἐκ ταύτης τῆς ἐργασίας ἡ εὐπορία ⸀ἡμῖν ἐστιν
- 26Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:καὶ θεωρεῖτε καὶ ἀκούετε ὅτι οὐ μόνον Ἐφέσου ἀλλὰ σχεδὸν πάσης τῆς Ἀσίας ὁ Παῦλος οὗτος πείσας μετέστησεν ἱκανὸν ὄχλον λέγων ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶν θεοὶ οἱ διὰ χειρῶν γινόμενοι
- 27So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.οὐ μόνον δὲ τοῦτο κινδυνεύει ἡμῖν τὸ μέρος εἰς ἀπελεγμὸν ἐλθεῖν ἀλλὰ καὶ τὸ τῆς μεγάλης θεᾶς ⸂Ἀρτέμιδος ἱερὸν⸃ εἰς οὐθὲν λογισθῆναι μέλλειν ⸀τε καὶ καθαιρεῖσθαι ⸂τῆς μεγαλειότητος⸃ αὐτῆς ἣν ὅλη ἡ Ἀσία καὶ ἡ οἰκουμένη σέβεται

- 29And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.καὶ ἡ ⸀πόλις τῆς συγχύσεως ὥρμησάν τε ὁμοθυμαδὸν εἰς τὸ θέατρον συναρπάσαντες Γάϊον καὶ Ἀρίσταρχον Μακεδόνας συνεκδήμους Παύλου

- 32Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.ἄλλοι μὲν οὖν ἄλλο ἔκραζον ἦν γὰρ ἡ ἐκκλησία συγκεχυμένη καὶ οἱ πλείους οὐκ τίνος ἕνεκα συνεληλύθεισαν
- 33And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.ἐκ δὲ τοῦ ὄχλου ⸀συνεβίβασαν Ἀλέξανδρον προβαλόντων αὐτὸν τῶν Ἰουδαίων ὁ δὲ Ἀλέξανδρος κατασείσας τὴν χεῖρα ἤθελεν ἀπολογεῖσθαι τῷ δήμῳ
- 34But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.ἐπιγνόντες δὲ ὅτι Ἰουδαῖός ἐστιν φωνὴ ἐγένετο μία ἐκ πάντων ⸀ὡς ἐπὶ ὥρας δύο κραζόντων Μεγάλη ἡ Ἄρτεμις Ἐφεσίων
- 35And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?καταστείλας δὲ ⸂ὁ γραμματεὺς τὸν ὄχλον⸃ φησίν Ἄνδρες Ἐφέσιοι τίς γάρ ἐστιν ⸀ἀνθρώπων ὃς οὐ γινώσκει τὴν Ἐφεσίων πόλιν νεωκόρον οὖσαν τῆς ⸀μεγάλης Ἀρτέμιδος καὶ τοῦ διοπετοῦς
